May 2022

We are half way through the year already - how did that happen!

May was a really busy month for me, and one thing I've learned is that a busy pace suits me so much better than slow.  I have the worst monkey mind that kicks in when I've too much time to think. It looks like June is going to be another busy month though so YAY for that. Monkey mind be quiet!

Reunited with some of my besties for a weekend trip to Cork and a glam night out. Nothing beats a good catch up with these girls, we’ve been friends for over 15 years but recently life has been so busy that it was weeks since our last meet up. The weekend consisted of good food, walks, coffee stops, tapas, wine and laughs.

Enjoyed taking some photos of my desk while the sun was shining in the window AND it was clean, a rare combination! You’ll see some recent landscapes that I painted earlier in the month. I’ve been sitting with them in my space to see if I want to produce more of this style. I know you can't really see them properly, but I'd love to know what you think of them in the comments.

Soaked up the atmosphere in the vibey Treaty City Brewery in the Medieval Quarter of Limerick City. This is the location of the Slow Sundays Market I’ve been selling at. If you’re visiting Limerick/or live here, I would 10/10 recommend a visit. They do brewery tours which are very entertaining and insightful. I’m a converted beer drinking  after tasting their famous Harris Pale Ale.

Sang along with Ed Sheeran at Thomond Park. My first time attending a music event in the stadium and I’m still in awe. It was flawless, and look at that sunset.

Spotted this cute little corner in OH Sugar coffee shop in Tipperary. I love the book affect, so creative. How lovely would this be in a child’s bedroom?

Painted this wave in gouache and watercolour. Gouache is a lot more opaque than watercolour and much creamier in texture. I deckled the edges and popped it into a floating frame and I love it.

Checked- out the new coffee shop and wellness brand Oahu on Thomas St, Limerick. I got their Acai bowl and it didn’t disappoint. They are starting a running club in June which I’m excited to join. It’s a good opportunity for me to get back into running,  it’s been a few months since I last ran so say a prayer for me!

Completed 12 commissions. I can’t wait to share them on my Instagram in the coming weeks, as soon as they’ve been gifted. I don’t want to risk spoiling any surprises! Here are two that are safe to share. They were both given as birthday gifts fo milestone birthdays.

Dusted off my graphic design skills to add the crest of a local rugby club to my bumble bee print. It was a gift for their retiring president. The bee is their club colours, I love when people approach me with these creative ideas.

Attended the Network Ireland Limerick Business Woman of the Year Awards. Another excuse to get glam! This was a fantastic evening in the Limerick Strand hotel celebrating all the worthy nominees and winners. I was on the Network Ireland Limerick committee last year but unfortunately with work demands I had to take a step back this year. I was attending as a guest, and it was so nice to catch up with the ladies I haven’t met since last year.

Dipped into the River Shannon a few times while the weather was decent. We’re very lucky to have a great group of like minded wild water enthusiasts who regular swim in O’Brien’s Bridge, Co. Care. Check out Chilly Dippers on IG if you’re interested in joining. New people are always welcome.

Found these gorgeous vintage watercolour paintings in a local charity shop. The photo doesn’t do the delicate colours justice. We can’t hang things on the walls of the house we’re renting and we don’t have storage so I had to leave these beauties behind… kind of regretting it since!

Got messy with some abstract acrylic painting. This was beyond fun to do. Thanks to Louise Fletcher’s taster course for helping me get out of my own head, and let loose on the paper. My desk is a little worse for wear after this but its an exercise I’m definitely going to comeback to when I need to quieten that before mentioned monkey mind! You basically pick 3 colours plus black and white, tape off 6 sections on one large piece of paper, pick whatever tools you want – brush, palette knife, your fingers, twigs, whatever and let loose. I kinda like the result, its vibrant and energetic.. I think.

Doodled this little illustration for my mam’s birthday. It’s one of my favourite memories in recent years when we did a big picnic for a live outdoor play. My mam went ALL out.  I framed this, and can confirm she loved it also.

Day tripped to Kilkenny for Mountainview Market. Wow, wow, wow this market is stunning. Located in the countryside surrounded with stunning views this market is a hive of activity with crafters, food vendors, coffee stalls, vintage clothes sellers and more. I was lucky enough to secure a date to sell here later this month, June 19th, and I cannot wait. Would love to see you there!
